Daysome terms

These are the terms for using Daysome, the app, and for the household plan you can pay for. They are written to be read rather than skimmed, and they are short because there is not much to say.

What Daysome is

Daysome shows someone their day, large and calm, on a tablet. It is a display of the day: what day it is, what is happening now, what is next, and what is for tea. It is not a medical device, not a monitoring system, and not a substitute for anybody. It does not track whether anything has been taken or done, and it never will.

The app is free. Everything it does on one device, including changing the day from the device's own settings, is free and stays free.

The household plan

The household plan connects the device to a household on daysome.org, so that people looking after somebody can see and change the day from their own phone or computer, invite each other, and connect up to three devices to the same day. It is the part that needs a server, and it is what the plan pays for.

There are two ways to have it: a yearly subscription, or a one-off purchase for as long as Daysome exists. Both are bought through the app store on the device, and the store's own terms and refund rules apply. The plan belongs to the household, not to the person who paid, so if somebody else in the family takes over, the plan goes with the household. It stays with the household it was bought for: it does not move when a device is connected to a different household or when somebody joins another one. It covers every device connected to that household, whichever store each device came from. Accounts and plans explains this in more detail.

A new household gets a free trial of the plan, starting when the first device is connected. Each person gets one free trial. Nothing is charged during the trial, and nothing is charged afterwards unless somebody chooses to pay.

What happens if the plan lapses

Every device keeps working exactly as it did. The day stays on it, and it can still be changed from that device's own settings. What pauses is the connected part: devices stop keeping in step with each other, members can see the day on daysome.org but not change it, and no more devices can be connected. Changes made on a device wait there and are sent when the household has a plan again. Nothing on the person's display changes, and nothing on it ever mentions the plan.

The yearly subscription

It renews each year until it is cancelled. Cancelling is done in the app store where it was bought, and it takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. Prices are shown in the store before anything is paid, in your own currency.

The one-off purchase

"Lifetime" means the lifetime of Daysome as a product. If Daysome is ever withdrawn, the connected part stops with it, and every device carries on as the free app. We say this plainly because a one-off payment is a promise, and we would rather state its edge than have anyone find it later.

Your data

What the app and the website hold, and what they deliberately do not, is in the privacy policy. Nothing in these terms changes it.

Accounts and households

An account on daysome.org is yours, and a household is shared between the people invited into it. The person who connects the first device owns the household and can invite and remove others. Please only invite people who are actually looking after the person the day is for.

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from the Delete my account page on daysome.org, which is also linked from the app's Connect screen. The page shows what happens to each household you belong to before anything is deleted.

We can close an account that is being used to harm somebody, or to do something unlawful. We would rather never have to.

Changes

If these terms change, the change will be described here in full, and anything that affects what you have paid for will be told to you before it takes effect.
